how to make the most of our fridays

i have no idea what got into me this morning, but apparently i needed to make this day as exhausting as humanly possible. after breakfast, we met jenny, jack and josie at the zoo.

and then it was off to peter piper pizza for pizza (of course!) and games.

max went nuts when he saw the 'wacky duck' game. he ran over to it screaming "duh, duh, duh!!"

max played the bouncy ball game and hit the jackpot!!!

200 tickets. :-D you're coming with me to vegas, baby!!

FINALLY, it was nap time. while i was snuggling with max before his nap, i said "i love you, max." and i swear, he said "i love you" back!! bliss!!

then roger came home from work and we reversed dinner and dessert and went out for gelato.

after a real dinner, ella was cleaning up the playroom. she noticed that max's $4 three-month-old balloon monkey from the zoo was deflated. the following conversation ensued:

ella: oh, no, mommy! max's monkey is broken!

me: it's okay, ella. it must have a hole in it.

ella: well, we need to take it back to the zoo and give it to the gentleman and he needs to give us a new one because this one is broken.

ah. proof positive that the bissmeyer genes are prevailing in her somewhere...

then, rog and ella worked on a puzzle.

i'm done. but happy. had a wonderful day with my favorite people. LOVE them!!

all about me. seriously. ALL...

preschool has been going great!! occasionally, they will post pictures of the kids in the classroom window or on facebook and it's so fun to see pictures of the kids and what they're doing during the day (especially since i usually only get a report on what the snack of the day was).

they have been learning about the letter 'M' which stands for mustache, mouth (above), mirror, marshmallows, muffins and me!

speaking of me, ella got to bring an "all about me" bag to class:

she was supposed to fill it with:

one item that was her favorite color (purple) - a necklace and a tutu

one item that she sleeps with at night - her nightlight turtle, pony and cinderella

one item that represented her favorite food - pizza, cheeseburgers and macaroni and cheese

one of her favorite books - we're going on a bear hunt and pinkalicious and the pink drink

* key word: one. oh, yes. i'm THAT mom.

a cut above the rest

it's been a good rest of the week. on wednesday, max decided to assume this position in the middle of the kitchen floor while lunch was being prepared:

last week began color month at preschool. this week's theme was red:

ella even got to bring home some red play dough which she shared with max.

the report from preschool:

ella's favorite color is yellow (confused because up until now, it's been purple and pink)

ella's favorite animals are elephants

on thursday, while ella was at preschool, max and i joined my friend, stephanie, to get her hair cut for 'lock of love' where she can donate her hair to make wigs for disadvantaged children who have long-term medical conditions - and max got his own hair cut!

ella's hair is soooo long right now, but she waffles back and forth between wanting it short like her friend, charlotte, or long like rapunzel...

on friday, we went to max's 18 month appointment (i can't believe he's a year and a half old!!!). he's doing great - 32 and a half inches long and 23 pounds, 7 ounces. after lunch, ella, max and i took a little walk to get daddy who was at an HOA meeting at the clubhouse. ella ran a little bit ahead and looked sooo tiny by herself. :-)

later it was out for dinner at one of my fave restaurants, zona 78, to get in my carbs. unfortunately, max ate most of my pasta...

they gave the kids dough to shape their own bread and then they baked it for them!

now we are enjoying a completely relaxing weekend.

the kiddos also have a new cousin!!!! brooke harper was born on thursday morning and she is just gorgeous and isabelle is a fabulous big sister. soo excited!!

2013: 365 challenge, weeks 33 & 34

ok, rough 2 weeks as far as me and my camera go, but another 2 weeks down. i definitely took a vacay in every sense of the word when i went to malibu and there are no pics (taken with the DSLR) from those few days. i'm over it... does it count, though, that i have more than 1 picture a day for a few days??

thursday, august 8, 2013 - retired (ella's fave shoes were in horrible need of being thrown away, but she loved them so much. we gave them a proper send off with her final swim lesson and her needing to be thrown in with shoes.)
