total eclipse of my sanity

oh man.  how many weeks into school are we?  months?  how am i so behind already??

random things that have happened...

bailey's birthday party.  so so thankful for the sweet, sisterly friendship that these two have.  just love it.

eclipse day 2017!!  the teachers for 2nd graders and up took the kids out with the solar glasses, so i snuck max out of class so he could observe the partial eclipse of the sun.
how cute!  all the students were treated with sun chips and moon pies.

we also celebrated max's half birthday with tacos and half a cake.

oy!  you're 5 1/2.  stop growing!!!!!

hailey and ella picked a book to read to max's class.  it was beyond adorable and the girls did an awesome job reading!!!

max also started karate.  because, ya know...we have time on our hands.  he's doing a great job so far and learned his first kata today.  he looks so cute...i mean, fierce....in his gi and white belt!!

ok, checking "do blog" off my list and need to pack.  buckle up kiddos.  crazy weeks are coming up!

getting a jump on it

we made it through our first full week of school!!  pretty unscathed.  okay, okay, so i thought i lost ella's homework, but it was eventually found.  and it might have been thursday of the second week of school before i fully realized that the school day started at 8:05 and not 8:10.  oops.  kinks worked out and we are getting settled into new routines.

on tuesday, ella tried out a new class at old pueblo gymnastics - parkour - kind of like a kiddo-friendly american ninja warrior.
doing knee tuck jumps on the trampoline

jumping from heights

on saturday, we had a fun day hanging out with poppie and playing the disney tower of terror version of "clue."

sunday, we registered els and max for religious ed and ella will be going through first reconciliation and first communion preparations this year!!

face-painting with her friends aubrey and penelope, who joined us for a fun brunch after mass.

a "2nd" start in kindergarten

we spent most of last week doing laundry and getting reacquainted with some kind of normalcy.  just in time for school to start.  on tuesday, the kiddos met their teachers and dropped off their school supplies.  both teachers seem so wonderful and we are looking forward to a great year!  on wednesday, we had a fun playdate with ella's sweet friend from climbing camp.

and we are officially ready for the 2017-2018 school year!!  they're both at tanque verde elementary school now!!

3 hours to myself, we were out for our annual-whoo-hoo-the-kids-are-back-in-school-brunch.

after a successful first day, we met up with my parents to celebrate gigi's birthday!!

they were so stinking cute!!!!  what a fabulous big sister you are, els!!

saturday night, we saw a show at the gaslight theatre.  always so much fun.

hot tub time machine

we are on our way to the east coast!!  the kids did an awesome job being good little travelers.

we arrived sunday night in bridgehampton and were looking forward to a fabulous week with jill, mike, danielle, isabelle, brooke, amy, justin, evan, owen, jeanne, marc and william...phew!
the house was fabulous - and even had a great gym.  which the girls found quite useful.

...and a pool and a tennis court!

evan helping max put together his lego set.

after torrential rains all day monday, the kids were finally ready to go swimming.

in the hot tub.  seriously.  this is where the 4 kids hung out all week.  a little hot tub.  plus about 8 pool noodles.

cousins!!  the kids had a fabulous time hanging out - just loved loved seeing them all together.

entertaining owen

fun games to pass the time

ready to roast marshmallows for s'mores!

time for more hot tub fun

ella loved holding her baby cousins

the basement also provided a ton of entertainment for the kids - arcade games, air hockey, foosball table, pool table and ping pong table.

on wednesday - we welcomed the sun and headed out to cooper's beach.

ella collecting all of the seashells she could find - making up for the lack of shells in san diego.

ooh, lemon icees - totally brought me back to my own childhood - these were my absolute fave.

more sweet treats...

before playing in the hot tub again.

on thursday, i took a quick shopping trip with mike and danielle - it's so beautiful in the hamptons

on friday, we went to a bayside beach for a little bit

and then headed to wolffer estate vineyard for some rose and cheeseboards.  yum!!

earlier in the week, the kids made up invitations to their talent show.
max's job was to welcome everyone and tell them to silence their cell phones.

the girls choreographed a dance to "ice, ice, baby."  ha!  so adorable.

the week went by so so fast and we had a day left together!

when mr. bissmeyer passed away, 7 years ago, they divided his ashes amongst the 4 kids, but roger had never spread his portion.  he wanted to do it with his siblings and it was a very sweet moment.

out for ice cream in bridgehampton

i wanted coffee - it was seriously the most exciting latte ever.  look who i ran into:

jimmy fallon!!  yup - i'm that person and bugged him (with roger's help).  but he was so super nice and interacted with max for a bit.

sunday morning - last time in the hot tub

there was a frog in the pool which the girls spent a large portion of the morning creating "habitats" for.

until he jumped into max's bowl of cereal.  wish i had it on video!

the kids seriously had the BEST time with their cousins and we hope we can do it again very soon!!!
