i build the fifth part two

and so his birthday celebration continued.  on thursday morning, we left and headed up to tempe.
at our starbucks stop on the way out of tucson, both kids saw a police officer and thanked him for his service - they got fun stickers from him!

we arrived in tempe and surprised max with a little trip to the legoland discover center!!  a little teaser ahead of our trip in june!  ;-)

the discovery center was pretty interactive - max had an activity pack that he had to look for special stamping stations at each activity.  they also built virtual lego mini figures and got a tour of a lego factory from a robot!

we went on a ride where we had to shoot at bad guys and save the princess.  kind of like buzz lightyear's astro blasters but not as awesome.  or accurate.  yeah i compare everything to disney.

mini-land was awesome and had models of phoenix and the grand canyon.  it was also super interactive!

after playing in the play area, they visited a lego master builder to check out his creations: a crown, glasses and polaroid camera.

earthquake table!!

the other ride was kind of like dumbo, but you had to pedal.

then we did a creativity workshop where you sketched out your design on a template then built it.
ella created unikitty!!  such an awesome design that she sketched out.

roger and max designed a brachiasaurus

after building race cars, it was off to a quick 4-D movie before grabbing lunch and heading up to surprise.

thank you thank you auntie elaine and uncle norm for having us for a delicious dinner and a sleepover!!
max was much happier this time blowing out his birthday candles.

more lego building with uncle alan's legos!

friday morning we headed back home for the final chapter of maxwell's fifth birthday...

...playing with his birthday gifts (mostly legos) in his underwear!
putting together his kiwi crate from the burts!

he asked for a hatchimal after seeing ella get hers at christmas.

putting his water wheel to work and learning about water power.  such a cool gift!

and more lego building.

happy happy birthday dear maxwell!!!  i say this for each kid at every birthday, but i simply CANNOT believe you are five.  you are funny, smart, thoughtful, inquisitive, rambunctious, and super sweet.  we love you so much - hope you had a birthday as fabulous as you are!!!!

i build the fifth part one

and max's FIFTH birthday celebration officially commenced!!  last tuesday, we celebrated max's birthday at preschool.  he made a poster about himself:
his favorite hobby - swimming
his favorite food - eegee's
his favorite place - Disney World
his favorite color - blue

i was able to spend a portion of the morning with him - his birthday snack choice: eegee's and cheetos!

 on wednesday, max turned five!!!!
sweet, thoughtful ella, made a card for max with dinosaurs on it.  i didn't even ask her to do it!!  she even put in $1.00 from her piggy bank.  or so she thought.  he looked in the envelope and thanked ella for the $5.00.  she paused, quickly recovered, smiled and said "you're welcome."  love!!

ready for rodeo day!!  our fave tucson holiday.  thanks, uncle mike, for our cowboy hats you sent us at christmas!

i stayed in ella's classroom to do folders and a little bit of line dancing.

girly whispers between two besties.

then i was off to max's classroom for his rodeo day party.  he played with a rodeo themed sensory box.

we celebrated max's preschool birthday a day early because of his rodeo party.  i went to the classroom on wednesday so spend a little bit of the morning with him, but instead really spent an hour preparing this meal for 100 preschoolers.  oy!
glad they all enjoyed it!

with his friends, ryker and josie

after running home to get ready, we were off to peter piper pizza for max's birthday party!!

thanks mom and dad - mom constructed his name and the number '5' in legos and they helped out a ton at the party!!!

lego cupcakes!

the favor bags and marshmallow lego head pops!

ella hit the jackpot twice!!  and she was super sweet about letting max feed all the tickets into the counter machine.

poor max had a horrible stomachache after dinner - he was miserable when everyone was singing happy birthday to him.

luckily, he was comforted by big sis and lots of cuddles from gigi

he felt much better and ended his party with more games with his friends and a ride on the roller coaster with me.

to be continued...
