leftover pic from max's backstroke championship finals. thanks, again, poppie for joining us and cheering on max!!
so, last week was quite busy given it was my attempt to start "winding down" our summer. not successful with the "winding down" part, but so much fun!!
on monday morning, ella had a swim lesson with coach michelle. max was supposed to stay dry on the deck...
...but of course he got a "little" wet!
then it was off to his swim lesson with coach patrick - much more appropriately-attired.
after dropping ella off at her painting workshop at color me mine - max and i grabbed a yummy lunch at chipotle.
ella's workshop was a techniques class - they used different items to "paint" the sides of a ceramic box. her favorite was bubbles.
she also liked lace. but was confused as to why they were painting with underwear...
on tuesday, after tennis, we made our way to the eegee's factory for a tour!!! so excited about this.
one of our calmer moments in the waiting room. 11 kids between the ages of 3 and 7. yikes!
we were all required to suit up with hats, aprons and booties. the kiddos looked adorable!!
we toured the bakery - the ladies start baking bread and cookies at 2 a.m.!! we also saw the prep room and where they slice all of the meat and cheese for the sandwiches.
my personal fave: the ranch dressing machine. mmm!!
oh such an observant and attentive little student.
meanwhile, ella clearly thought the factory was stinky...
...AND loud...
the freezer where they store gallons upon gallons of eegee's slushies!!! and the room felt so nice and cool vs. the tucson summer heat.
max and the machine that produces all of his eegee's!!!
we ditched our sanitation gear and were treated to cookies and watermelon eegee's!
but charlotte and ella clearly thought they made a nice fashion statement.
after the fabulous tour - we went over to reid park to enjoy a nice lunch of...you guessed it...eegee's sandwiches and slushies!!!
oh, max. left alone at the table again...
wednesday morning - max at speech therapy with ms. mary.
then off to la encantada for a little shopping with gigi!
and lunch at sauce while els was at her second day of her art workshop.
learning some new techniques on canvas - painting with sponges, caulk and bubble wrap!!
roger also officially accepted a job offer - he was promoted AND moved out of HR into a position at raytheon as a program manager. such a HUGE deal for him and we couldn't be prouder. for years now, many people close to roger have witnessed his incredible intellect, talent, ability to see the big picture and influencing skills. being promoted into this role is a true recognition of all that roger has accomplished and is capable of. seriously. beyond. amazing. congrats, roger!!!!
on thursday, after tennis, we headed to jack fletcher's house for a morning of swimming and a yummy lunch!
the kiddos even had a water balloon fight - what an awesome day with friends.
friday - another sign of our summer coming to an end - school supply shopping with roger!! then another swim lesson for max and lunch at one of our faves - zinburger.
followed by another swim lesson for ella - and she made it across the pool!!! ella - that's 25m for you baby!! way to go! oh so proud.
saturday morning, els joined roger for a bike ride then we all met up at the pool.
showing off her swimming skills!!
finally, my fave sign that our summer is winding down: i'm back at the gym!! i had my membership frozen over the summer since i had the kids with me all day, every day, all summer. loved the time spent with them, but also missed this and looking forward to getting back into my routine while the kiddos are at school!!
sunday, after mass, we went to max's friend, sebastian's birthday party at pump it up.
what a great week, overall!!
