hatching up a plan for our weekend

oh, another roger-less week.  sad face.  but we managed to stay busy.

here are a few pics from mrs. thompson of max's pirate day!

they went on a treasure hunt...

and walked the "plank!"

on tuesday, max came home saying the pledge of allegiance and with his new pet rock, which he named "maxwell."  very creative.

wednesday we had a quick lunch at peter piper before we went to pick up els from school.

thursday, mom and dad came over - thanks for helping els with her homework and for a yummy dinner!!!

friday night, auntie meegan came to spend a few days with us on her drive from L.A. to nashville!!!  she brought the kids dinosaur eggs that "hatch" when they are submerged in water.  the kids have been keeping a close eye on their baby dinos!     :-)

saturday morning, ella ran the sabino canyon 1-miler again - and this time max signed up for the race too!
proudly showing off her bib with a timing chip - ready to go!

she saw her friend, hailey, and the two girls ran together!

max crossing the finish line!!

els and hailey showing off their finisher ribbons.  ella finished in 14:55 and came in 151/220 (a PR over last year's time of 15:15 and placement of 133/170).  congrats ella - way to go!!!!  max did a great job but i'm pretty sure he was disqualified for turning around pre-maturely - but proud of you for getting out there, max!!

after a yummy post-race breakfast, and naps, meegan and i took the kiddos to the pool.

goldfish crackers and ready to go home.  then meegan and i headed out for a fun dinner at north.

sundays will be pretty busy this fall - on sunday i had a 14 mile run (my first run beyond the half marathon distance!!!), mass, RCIA class (meanwhile roger took the kiddos to the grocery store and eeggee's), football, nutrition clinic and dinner out with my girls.  thank you roger for being such an amazing hubby this weekend (just like you are every day!!!!).

say again??

yup, i've been lazy with posts.  but we are well into our school year routines and things are going great.  ella has been rocking her homework!!  last week was pretty uneventful - roger was in albequerque (boo) and the kids are quite weepy when he is gone on business.  grateful for my friends who continue to take care of me when i'm roger-less.

a few funny ella and max sayings:

[putting max to bed]
max: good night mommy.
me:  good night max.  good night bob-o.
max:  no.  bob-o in time out.  he sleeping in the corner of my bed tonight.
me:  why?  what did he do?
max:  bob-o made bad choices.  these are his consequences.

[me coming home from a very hot run]
me:  wow, look at the breakfast daddy made you!  mickey-shaped pancakes, bacon, eggs...  i just need something cold right now.  [grabbed bag of frozen grapes out of freezer]
ella and max:  we want some!!  wow, mom, we love frozen grapes.  you are the best cook ever!

ella [in the bathroom]:  mom, i'm going to try and go poo.
max [tearing through the house toward the bathroom]:  i want to see!!  i want to see!!
me:  ew, max.  why do you want to see her poo?
max:  she said she made triangle poo!!!!  i want to see triangle poo!!
me:  no!  "TRY AND GO" poo.  NOT triangle poo!!

ready for the notre dame game last weekend.  go irish!!

on thursday, max had "talk like a pirate" day.

the VERY first time max drew a person!!!  it was on poppie's birthday card.

yesterday, we went to the gaslight theatre.

so so much fun and a great show!

10/40: disneyland half marathon and disneyland diamond anniversary part two

my 10th half marathon!!!  i'm a quarter of my way to my goal - woohoo!!  up super early on sunday morning for the start of the race.  the weather was just about perfect and the course was fabulous!!
at the start line and ready to go!

it was still dark enough when i ran past the fountains so they were all lit up.  love it!

i'm sad i skipped robin hood and prince john, but needed to get at least one character stop in!

mack from the new electrical parade we saw the night before!!  then out of the parks and 3 miles lined with vintage cars - so much fun.

at mile 9, we entered anaheim stadium where the angels play and we ran through the outfield!

at mile 12 i had an amazing cheering squad!

onto the finish line, high fiving minnie, while jumping in the air.  woohoo!!

finished with a time of 2:30:40 and placed 4580/15228.  10th half done and done!

rushed back to the hotel for the quickest shower in history and off to california adventure for our character breakfast at ariel's grotto.

ella was beyond excited when each of the princesses was introduced...but especially for snow white.

happy birthday (again!) mom!!

ella said she really wanted to see donald and i found out (thanks to my disneyland app) he was literally right outside the restaurant!

one of our absolute fave rides: radiator springs racers!!

ending our trip with my mom's least favorite rides: mickey's fun wheel and goofy's sky school...

we had a really nice family in front of us for the world of color show - they moved over so ella could have a front row view.  :-)

such an amazing girls trip and loved loved loved my one on one time with my little girl and my mom.
