mud to be

it's been a great week and went by so so fast!!

on wednesday we went to my parents' house for dinner - a quick golf cart ride around the neighborhood before saying good-bye to bok-bok who headed back to chicago.  we had a great visit with her!!!!

thursday we had rodeo break - my fave tucson holiday!  we spent the morning at the park before going to the movies to watch 'big hero 6.'
max and his girl, josie.

whoa!!!

on the short drive to the park, the girls wanted to stay together and so did the boys.  so christina took evelyn and ella - who spent the whole time in excited, emphatic conversation over various topics.  i took the boys and we spent 10 minutes screaming "POPCORN!!!!" AND "BAYMAX!!!" (the name of the robot in the movie) at the top of our lungs.  yup, i was meant to have boys.

after corralling 9 children, they miraculously sat still and quietly for the ENTIRE movie.  or that just speaks to how entertaining and adorable it was.  el sat in the row behind me with her girls and i sat with max and everett and christina.

our walk out of the theatre was much calmer and in an orderly fashion!!

we came home and while i was skyping with jill, max found bubble solution and made mud.

ahh!!  okay, maybe i was meant to have girls...

today, josie and jack came over for a fun playdate!

yeah, so we will probably never actually make it to the rodeo.  one year however, i will make my way to disney with the kiddos!  roger, you've been warned...  ;-)

THREE-peat!

we had SUCH a fabulous day with friends and family to celebrate max turning THREE!!!

yesterday, he helped roger to hose off the patio furniture to get ready for today's party:

today, max came downstairs.
roger and me: happy birthday, max!!  it's your birthday!!
max:  where is it?  where is my birthday?
me:  it's today!  your birthday is here!
max:  here?  or are we going to my birthday?

max's request for his breakfast: shakers (roger's smoothies), blueberry muffins and bacon!  we spent the rest of the morning opening gifts and skyping with family.

then we met up with my mom and bok-bok for lunch at the gaslight theatre - one of max's fave places!!

they sang happy birthday to him and he got an ice cream cone!

this afternoon, our friends, the cotters, the burts and the kaufmans, joined us for playing in the backyard and grilling!

for his birthday cake - he asked for a blue cake with gummies!

thank you to our dear, dear friends and families for helping us to celebrate - we love you all!

oh, max.  my baby is THREE!!!  you make me laugh everyday.  you are such a boy - running through the house half naked, screaming and bouncing off the furniture.  i love how much your sister and you love each other.  thank you for being so incredibly sweet - your cuddles can always make me so so happy.  happy birthday dear max.  we love you!!!!!

p.s.  happy anniversary to the other man in my life.  roger and i went on our first date TEN years ago. best decade of my life.  love you baby!

mother's day in february

on thursday, it was "moments with mom" at max's school.  it was so so adorable!!

first they sang a song (to the tune of "where is thumbkin") and max did a fabulous job!
i love mommy, i love mommy
yes i do, yes i do
mommy is for hugging, mommy is for kissing
i love you, i love you

then he gave me a book with his handprint and footprint and he answered some questions about me:
my mommy's name is: sharyn
she is: 2 years old
her favorite color is: pink
she has: black hair
she has: brown eyes
i love my mommy because: she kissed my head when i fell down and she loves daddy
:-)

we ate some snacks together too - thank you max for such a great day with you!!  i love love love being your mommy.

ella and her class are all ready for rodeo week!

but this week, they wrapped up learning about insects.  :-)

today was pretty chill - except max is onto us with speech therapy and has realized it's not just playtime with ms. gretchen.  he revolted today.  :-(  after refusing to play any games requiring him to speak:
max:  here [handing ms. gretchen a baby doll].  you feed baby.
ms. gretchen: what am i feeding her?
max:  yater.
ms. gretchen:  water?  wa-wa-water??
max:  no.  milk.  i go watch tv now.  bye ms. gretchen!  i open door for you when you go home!

pre-THREE

such a fun week so far - the birthday fun for max has commenced!!!!

on monday, we dropped ella off at school, and after running some errands, bok-bok wanted to take max for ice cream!

after 45 minutes of scooping  small amounts of cookie & cream soup up his nose, bok-bok admitted it would be a very long time before she took max out for ice cream again....

on tuesday morning, max was ready for his birthday celebration at school!!!
he chose spiderman napkins to bring to class!  :-)

i spent the morning at preschool with him.  exhausting!!  but awesome to see what he does at school and how cute he and his friends are!
cuddling with ms. lisa while the class sang happy birthday to him.

after school, we met up with his friend, matilda, at the playground for lunch!

so proud of going down the big boy slide without any help!

and out for cake pops after!!!

today, we went to jack and josie's for a playdate.  for those of you 80's kids: remember the care bear stare????  LOVE!

call me lazy

yup, few pictures for the past week (and a half) and haven't blogged.  and this is going to be a quick blog.  a minor head wound (max) and colds (me and ella) and all around busy.  but having a great time as always with my two loves!!

oy, running around with his buddy, everett, they collided, bounced off each other and smacked the ground head first!!  terrible mother i am, though, because i didn't notice for several hours because he complained that his chin hurt so that's what i examined!  :-(

thursday: valentine's day parties at school (both of them!).  ella had hello kitty valentines, and max: minions.

happy valentine's day!!  we had a relaxing morning, followed by lunch with bok-bok at blanco.  yum!

8 years of marriage and 2 kids, this is what our valentine's day date looked like for us:  a peaceful 10 minutes walking around target, hand in hand, to purchase a comforter for max, while bok-bok waited in the car with the two kids.  and then coming home, falling asleep on the couch and waking up in a quiet house as the kids played upstairs and roger sat on the opposite side of the room doing taxes.  best.  valentine's. day.  ever.

after dinner, it was time to tuck the kids into their new beds!!!!  well, ella's new bedroom set and her old set became max's new set.  :-)  they're both in big kid beds!!!!!!!

today, after looking at a house (yes, now you can call me crazy - don't worry - i'm really really hoping to not move into a new house - just seeing what's out there) - we went to max's first friend's birthday party (his friend from school, not a family friend).  so much fun!!
then we came home and bok-bok taught my how to make my favorite dumplings that my grandma used to make me!
